To cleanse or not to cleanse

I have started to try and pay attention to my body and how I take care of it or don't take care of it. I started going to hot yoga again and I have been going to a legit chiropractor doctor who also advocates nutritional changes in your life. One of the things the doc asked me was to do a cleanse. Now I have tried to do a cleanse before with supplements from Whole Foods and not having any soda, alcohol or sugar that wasn't naturally occurring. After about 6 days of doing this I got a raging sinus infection, my theory was that my body was working on cleansing and didn't have the strength to re-route the resources to fight off the infection without antibiotics. I only lasted 6 days on that cleanse and the one that is being advocated to me now is 21 days. TWENTY-ONE days, like 21, 24 hour days. You can eat on this cleanse but its only veggies and berries and protein shakes and supplements but no meat for the first 11 days, no alcohol, no caffeine, no baked goods (sad....no scones). Oh and its $300 for everything. So I was thinking today that maybe I should take the month of June and change the way I eat and see what comes of that and if I still see no change in how I feel and no change in my weight then I will do the cleanse.
One of the problems in changing how I eat is that Mike likes to cook and I like to eat what he cooks because he is a good cook. So now I have to change that, I mean we can still eat together I suppose but it still sucks because when he cooks delicious steak and potatoes I won't be partaking in the feast. And I don't want to be the douche bag who at parties and BBQ will be like, "Yea I can't eat that...". But this is for me and I need to pay attention to how what I put in my body effects it.

Starbucks needs a rule book

So Starbucks has been around a while, right? So unless you have just arrived from somewhere without one , (which would be hard because they are everywhere!) the way to order in Starbucks or just the general way to behave shouldn't be surprising. I have written about this before but I would like to put out the ground rules for Starbucks that should be followed:
  1. when there are approximately 18 people in line and 1 cashier perhaps you could pick another time to ask "Now what exactly makes a light, a light?" (ummm...really?)
  2. While Starbucks has tables and seats it is NOT a bar, so when there aren't any empty seats please don't stand around in groups in the only available walking space in the joint. You can't hang out here and stand around, dude, LEAVE.
  3. After you get your drink, unless its like the wrong one, don't lean over the glass partition and ask "Is it too late to order an espresso shot in this?" (yes, it is much too late)
  4. The baristas ask for your name to put it on your cup so don't act surprised when you hear your name and and they put a drink, which exactly matches the description of what you ordered, and look around at strangers and ask "Is this mine?" (I don't know Belinda, it says Belinda on it and its what you ordered, figure it out!)
Just a few tips from me to you...

Epiphany

Today I had an epiphany, I have them on a pretty regular basis, about the gym this one was, the epiphany. I don't like things that have no purpose like candles that are never lit, decorative pillows, formal living rooms. I don't like doing things that have no reason for doing them. And I realized today that I have been going to the gym on a regular basis for about 4 years and NOTHING has changed, nothing. If I eat like nothing and go to the gym, no change, if I eat whatever I want and go to the gym, no change. Mike told me that I need to go to the gym because imagine if I never went to the gym and how good it is for me...blah blah blah. The only time I have ever lost a significant amount of weight or changed my body was when I stopped eating for about 4 months, I lost about 60 lbs by eating yogurt once a day. That about it...so that is my epiphany, I will go to the gym but if I don't I am not going to beat myself up about it. I will never look like Gisele. I will never look like Gisele. I will never look like Gisele.

Commuter rail...

I have a lot of stuff in my hands or lap when I take the train in the morning, so this morning I had an iced coffee, kindle and sunglasses on my head and my bag on my lap. I put my t-pass in the usual spot, these little holders things on the back of the seat in front of me, the conductor went by and I grabbed my pass to put it in my wallet but it slipped and it slipped in the little space between the back of the seat and the seat. Crap. So I was like..."Oh no! I dropped my pass!" So I had to put down my iced coffee, kindle and bag and take my sunglasses off my head because they were of course slipping off and getting in my way.
Luckily the guy sitting on the seat with me was nice enough to not think I was a nut job and helped me. The seat lifts up, (surprise!) because it was the last seat in the row there is a grate thingy under it so I couldn't reach under and find my pass. So underneath the seat is...insulation which I proceeded to poke through looking for my pass, I spotted it! "So I grabbed it and turned it over...no not my pass, a zone 4 day pass...not gonna help me. So I poked through more insulation and I found it! YES! The guy was like "I can't believe you just did that! No one has probably ever been down there." For a t-pass I will dig through insulation on a train, its only the beginning of the month, if it was May 31st I probably wouldn't have but those t-passes are friggin expensive. My zone 3 is $160 a month! WTF! I am not throwing away $160! And if I wanted to pay my way in the train every morning and afternoon that's $10.50 for the day...ummm no. So woo hoo I gots my pass back.
