This past Friday night Mike and I took my 13 yr old cousin Brooke to the Red Sox game, she had never been and doesn't really know much about baseball. Mike was thrilled to be going with me and a 13 yr old girl. Before the first pitch I realized that it was FREEZING. It was about 35 degrees out at like 6:45pm so I went and bought myself a sweatshirt and Brooke a foam finger, I told her she could shove her hands in it when she got cold. In the 4th inning I realized Brooke's teeth were chattering so I told her I would go buy her a sweatshirt, she didn't want me too because of how much they were (Family friendly Fenway loves to jack up the prices) but the girl has no body fat on her so I bought her a sweatshirt and got us a blanket to share. I warned Mike that we weren't going to make it to the end and the Sox started to umm...suck so when it was 4-7 Toronto I said we had to leave. Mike was not pleased but dude it was FREEZING.
The next morning I went with the babies (not really anymore, they are almost 5 yr old twins and an almost 3 yr old) and their mother to Elmo Live! So Mike was going to be alone with Brooke for a few hours but I figured that she is 13 and she just wants to sleep in and watch Twilight or something. My Aunt and Uncle don't have cable at her house and we have super cable so I figured she would be all set. Mike was a tad concerned about being left alone with a 13 yr old girl, so this is our prep conversation:
Mike: "Well what am I going to do with her?"
Me: "You like teenage girl movies, watch Mean Girls or John Tucker Must Die"
Mike: "Well what does she eat?"
Me: "If you go get a bagel, buy her one."
Mike: "Well like what do I do with her?"
Me: "You don't have to braid her hair or pick out an outfit!"
In the afternoon I brought the kids back to our condo to eat lunch with Brooke, Owen stared at her for most of the lunch (5 yr old) and Mike and I went down for an afternoon nap. Brooke was in heaven...left alone with 400 channels and a lap top.
