Adventures in home ownership
Mike and I are now homeowners...hot damn. Oh but the adventures we have had so far...we painted almost every room in the house, had the wood floors downstairs refinished (currently drying) by a very small man and have had to have a sewer pipe replaced by a pair of hard to track down Irish lads. We don't move for a few more days but we have been counting them down, basically we want more room and would like to host family events that aren't just contained to our condo living room. Now our cat will have more places to hide from our niece and nephews, one of whom is constantly yelling "KITTY WHERE ARE YOU?" Its amazing she doesn't come out.
Our friends have all come out to help us if they could which was awesome and my brother in law headed up the whole painting project, essentially he was our foreman. We had a few other names for him. Apparently our lack of mad painting skills was making him say things that made him sound like his father. However, I am a much better edger because of him and Colleen.
Colleen and I painted the kitchen a fab bright green, I love it! However, Mike wasn't a huge fan of the kitchen floors so we put down tarps but we weren't the neatest of painters and we didn't freak out if we spilled some paint. We have made several trips to Home Depot and hopefully they will name a wing in their store after us since we have spent a small fortune there. We quickly realized that putting in a tile floor may be a bit 'spensive. Even though Mike thought it would be cheap, just more evidence that he was NOT paying attention during all of the "Flip This House" episodes we watched. So I spent several hours and an entire bottle of "Goo-gone" scrubbing and scrapping the kitchen floor, so we are keeping the damn thing. Next weekend I get to do the same thing upstairs on the wood floors where someone (not me) dropped a crap ton of paint on the floor. I think I am charging Mike for the manicure I am getting after all this moving is done.
